the first northern lights of the year are moving across the skies. it's wonderful and amazing, and i don't think i'll ever get used to this. it makes me long for winter (and those of you who know me even the slightest know that that's not something that happens a lot)

today has been a wonderful day

it started out cold and misty, but clear and no clouds. when bob and i went for our morning walk the lake was absolutely calm and looked like a mirror. it was almost unnatural, like in a film where they have tried to make it as romantic-looking as possible.

at about 11 am i took the bike and went to the physiotherapist (the back is worse again, by the way...). the sun was shining, and even though the air was cold and "autumnish" it managed to give some warmth. the wind was strong (as it is most of the time here), and of course it was going in the opposite direction than i was. strangely enough it seemed to have changed direction on my way back home... i didn't mind it too much then though, as much of the way back from långsele is downhill. i really like the sound of the wind through yellowing wheat fields, so i took it quite slowly and enjoyed the sounds and the warmth of the sun (and of course the downhill slope:).

after the trip to långsele i went for a longer walk with bob, to visit one of his girlfriends (tina). unfortunately she wasn't at home, but he found a bone that he buried in front of her letterbox. he also tried to pee on it (the letterbox), but i managed to talk him out of it.

back home i made a cup of fake-coffee and found an almost "windless" spot on the porch, where i sat down to look through the mail. our neighbour sören came out to work on his car, but didn't get further than the porch and we talked until both our backs ached and we had to get up and move about for a while.

when tommy came home he had bought coca cola (which i love) and two coca cola glasses. we made a delicious dinner with two big fish that sören cought the other day and or own potatoes.

now tommy is in the shower and i'm on my way out for a last walk in the darkness. unfortunately it sounds like rain out there... but i guess you can't expect a day that's perfect all way through :)

yesterday tommy, bob and i went for a trip to a mountain not very far from where we live. we had seen a little lake with a nice name on the map, just at the foot of a little hill, which we wanted to see. so we packed a little picknick and started our little excursion. everything was "perfect"; a nice path to walk on, the sun in the correct angle to find us through the trees, only "natural sounds" (i.e. no road sounds or humming from electric cables) and a happy, running, playing old dog. and of course coca cola in the bag :)

we never found the lake (or the other lake we decided that we'd at least be able to find...), but we had a nice picknick on a big pink rock that had been slightly warmed by the sun. bob wasn't very happy about how the picknick turned out though; he doesn't like paths that don't lead anywhere. and when we were looking for the second little lake and bob realised that we for the second time didn't know where we were going, he just turned around and rushed back to the car :)

after our little outing we went to långsele, as i had a meating with the physiotherapist. as i was lying there with little needles in my back and feet, looking at a plastic basket for "contaminated waste only", i was surprised with how quickly the settings can change. one minute i'm sitting on a warm pink rock eating home made buns with my husband and my dog, feeling the sun warm my bare feet and discussing how much the trees had grown last summer. next minute (or at least hour and a half: we had to walk back from the stone) i'm lying on a paper sheet in a darkened room with pictures of humans with no skin on the walls... as i was putting my jeans on after the acupuncture some pine needles and blueberry sprigs fell on the floor. i started to pick them up, but decided to let them be... hopefully they could cheer the physiotherapists up, reminding them of the nature outside :)

hello everybody!

i'm right now borrowing a computer at the library in sollefteå. outside the weather gods can't really decide wether to let it be rain or sunshine in this part of the world... i'm hoping for the sunshine :)

i've been visiting a few schools lately, to say that i'm interested in a job there. i'm not, really, but i'd like to get *any* kind of job at the moment. it's much harder than i had expected... in fact i was quite sure to have a job almost at once, without even having to make an effort... how wrong i was :)! i haven't been unemployed before, and i find it very difficult getting used to the idea. i know it's one of my big prejudices, that unemployed people are... not stupid, but at least not as smart as "normal" people... and i really do feel kind of stupid for being unemployed. i feel like i have to beg people for a stupid job for no money. i guess it's not a very big help that i don't even know what kind of job i would *like* to have... anyway, i've talked to some people at some schools around, and today i visited some sort of boss person to say that i could take care of little old people if they had any left. i actually feel that i'd much rather do that than work at a school... i'll have to figure out what i want to do for a living one of these days :)

the back is slowly becoming much better. i've visited a doctor and a physio therapist in långsele, and at the moment i'm going there twice a week. last week i was given acupuncture, which i was very sceptical about. i mean, what could a few very thin needles do? but they actually seemed to be able to do quite a lot... since friday last week (3 days ago) my back has been much better, as long as i don't sit too much. i had forgotten what it felt like to walk without pain! it feels great, but very weird, and my smile grows bigger for every step... it's a good thing that there are not to many people around in nyland ,cause i must look rather stupid. i also love washing my hands, because normally that would hurt very bad but now i almost don't feel a thing. great!!

tommy has a job at the school in sollefteå, teaching swedish to foreigners, spanish and some english. i hope he will like it. his colleagues seem to be nice anyway, but he hasn't met his students yet.

we're still waiting for the adsl to work... it didn't start at the end of last week, as expected... someone said he would telephone me today, but i haven't heard from him yet. stupid people.

have to go, my 30 minutes are up

:)

still alive :)

i haven't been close to internet for a loong time now... we've been going back and forth between the summer place and here, and i've also been to my parents twice this summer.

our modem (or something between us and the internet anyway) hasn't really been working all summer, and my parents' modem had been killed by the lightning shortly before the summer holidays, so i haven't even been able to read my mail... but now our internet connection seems to work again :) and we've been told that we'll have our adsl up and running by the end of next week (we've been told that the last few months, so maybe we'd better not hope too much).

i'll get back to you later with some information about what's happened this summer.

see you!
