i just had a near-owl experience! on the evening walk with the bob we saw a big unfamiliar bird flying towards us, very close to the ground. when he came closer i saw he had an owl face (which is why i guess he must be an owl). i've never seen one before, but i've been told the sad sounding bird who complains at nights is some kind of owl. this one came quite close, so i had a rather good look. his face was quite "human like" compared to other birds, as it was so flat. but his body looked much more birdyish than i've imagined when i've seen them in pictures. i've found the face to be the most prominent feature in all pictures i've seen of owls, but i've never even really thought about their bodies. this one had a big birdyish body, and just a small flat face that actually looked quite silly on that big body.

and the lettuce is growing! ...unless it's weed... at least something is growing :)  ¶ 10:50 PM
