the ice on the lake was almost black today. it might not sound like a big deal, but it looked really amazing, and my husband and i stood in the window and looked at it for ages when we noticed it this morning. i don't know much about ice, but i guess that the turning black thing is part of the melting process. the music has stopped too, a few days ago. i had expected it to be louder the more the ice melted... it's white again now, maybe because it gets colder at nights?

it's been very windy here the last two or three days, so the road has dried up quite a lot. that's a veeery good thing, because bob gets absolutely brown by mud otherwise!

talked to my mother yesterday, and apparently they have no snow left, and daffodils all over the garden. it's difficult to imagine, as we still have quite a lot of snow, and are only beginning to see some parts of the earth here and there... but the last bit of snow on the porch melted today, which tommy and i had decided would mean that spring is here. so we'll see tomorrow if we were right :) i've been waiting for that little piece of snow to go away for a week now, so i really hope spring will start to come our way now.  ¶ 9:53 PM
