i guess this is childish and immature, but i love going by train in first class and have free coffee and magazines and fruit and internet and enough space to move my legs now and then. even though i'm always travelling backwards so i get car sick and can't work very well and the bistro car is always very far away and the train is always late and i now and then end up having to spend nights in hotels.
on this particular trip my car is full of beautiful little old ladies, which makes it even greater. one of them reminds me of a dear friend who is not well... i guess i really should try to go and see her and tell her i love her before it's too late?

i just sent in the last paper (for this term anyway). i've packed the bag. i've checked my phone. i've had a shower. i've chosen a book. i've been nice and polite. now i just need to have some lunch, and then i'm off to the royal capital to have a look at a container.

last night was not too great: * millions of wasps found their way in, but they all needed help to find their way out again. * the dog is a pervert who is turned on by wounds, and the little vicious killer cat has a wound in his ear, so we had to build an obstacle in the bedroom door to keep the killer cat out. * the killer cat sat outside the bedroom obstacle screaming and shouting, and eventually pressed himself into the bedroom to let the dog kiss and lick him all night until i had to throw him out in the garden to get some rest. * the big fat cosy cat was big and fat and cosy as always, and therefore walked around on top of me trying to find the closest place to sleep. * and to top it all i have a cold.

i really* want to finish the last paper and report, so i can get sommarlov from the studies. but somehow i just ... don't.
this week was supposed to be an off-work-and-on-study-week, but i haven't managed to stay away from work very much yet. until today. and what have i done? i fell asleep on the couch trying to cure my headache, chatted with the baby sister in london, read (and answered) e-mails (work), went for a longish walk with the big brave pup, and now i'm thinking of making a midsommarstång ...
the prince is now officially an excellent tracking dog. in pouring rain he found a chopped off elk foot in front of a judge, who was so impressed he exclaimed "det här är en djääääääääääävulskt bra spårhund!" (this is a blooooooooody good tracking dog :).
if it hadn't been for the incompetent handler (me) he would have aced the test. but i ran (what, five steps?), which made him lose a point. and i didn't say anything when he lifted his head for ten seconds to think, which made him lose another point. but he still got excellent points, so i hope he is not too disappointed in me.
now i'm going to have a cup of coffee, and the pup and i will cuddle up under a blanket until we are nice and dry and warm again. the great great beautiful prince!

He refuses to take another step. The winter cold weather finally seems to be over and the pup thinks that anything over 9 degrees is unbearable. I don't agree. I think he's cute though. And i'm tired enough to enjoy the break. And a group of lucky summer free teen agers are laughing nearby so i can get nostalgic and remember the summers from my young days while i wait for him to wake up
i just read what i wrote about our house three years ago: "i fell in love with the third house before i'd even seen it, just by looking at the path leading up to it. it was perfect. not at all the kind of house i'm interested in, but somehow it was perfect." i still love it (even though i now know that it might not be what people call perfect :)
